Bot setup guide

How to set up your bot

Follow these steps after purchase to install, configure, and launch your Discord bot.

Before you start

Make sure you prepare the following things:
• A good host service that can run the latest version of Node.JS
• Download: Node.js, latest version (click me) (only needed if you install the bot's packages on your own computer, see step 15)
• Download: Visual Studio Code (click me)
• Download: WinSCP (click me)
• Go to: Discord Developer Portal (click me)

2

Enable all intents

Go to the Bot section of the Developer Portal and enable all 3 intents.
1. Presence Intent
2. Server Members Intent
3. Message Content Intent

3

Download your bot files

After checkout you're taken to your account, and your download unlocks automatically within a few seconds. Click Download next to the bot under "My purchases". You can download it again any time from your account.

4

Open your bot files

The bot files we will have to use from the folder you downloaded are the following:
bot.config.json (here we will change the dashboard port, BotID and clientSecret)
.env (here we will add the bot token)
botfolder\plugins\dashboard\dashboard-state.json (here we will change the publicBaseUrl)

5

Getting the bot's information

Go to the Developer Portal into the OAuth2 section and you will find the BotID and clientSecret. To view the clientSecret you have to first reset it.

6

Add the BotID and clientSecret in the bot.config.json

Open bot.config.json, press CTRL + F and search for "botId" and replace it with your value.
Do the same thing but search for "clientSecret" and replace it.

7

Add the bot's token into the .env file

Open the .env file using Visual Studio Code. In your Developer Portal, go to the "Bot" section, reset the bot's token, copy it and paste it in the .env file.

Uploading the bot to HOST

Make sure you have a host provider that has Node.JS. Then we will need the following things to set the dashboard for that host:
• The host's Address
• The host's port

8

How to identify the Address and the Port

Go into your host's panel and you will see this part called "Address".
On the RED LINE we have the full Address,
and under the GREEN LINE we have the PORT.

9

Add redirects in Discord Developer Portal

To add redirects go to Discord Developer Portal at OAuth2 and add 2 redirects:
http://yourhostaddress/dashboard
http://yourhostaddress/dashboard/auth/callback

10

Add PublicBaseURL

Go into the bot folder plugins\dashboard\dashboard-state.json and search for "publicBaseUrl" then add your host's address.

11

Now we have to set the port in bot.config.json

Go into the bot folder, access bot.config.json and search for "port" then replace it with your host's port.

12

Uploading files to the host

To upload files to the host you need to download WinSCP and search for your host's SFTP connection details.

13

Open WinSCP and connect to host

Open WinSCP and connect to your host using the SFTP details.
• Host name - Host Address
• Port - Port (in my case 2022)
• Username - Username
• Password - Sometimes the password matches the one you use to log in to the host's panel. Sometimes the host provides a password that you copy and paste in to connect.

14

Upload files to host

Once connected with WinSCP select the folder where the bot files are. Drag to select everything, then drag them into the host's files and wait for the upload to finish.
Once finished you can close WinSCP.

15

Install the bot's packages (node_modules)

To keep the download small, the bot comes without the node_modules folder. You need to install it once by running npm install in the bot's folder. Choose one of these options:

Option A: on your host (recommended)
• If your host lets you choose a Node.js version (usually in the server's Startup or Settings page), select the latest version.
• Open your host's panel and go to the Console / Terminal of your server.
• Run: npm install
• Many Node.js hosts do this automatically when the server starts, if a package.json file is present. If you see packages being installed in the console, you can skip this.

Option B: on your own computer
• Install the latest version of Node.js. If you already have Node.js installed, update it to the latest version first.
• Open the bot's folder in Visual Studio Code, then open Terminal → New Terminal.
• Run: npm install and wait until it finishes. A node_modules folder appears.
• Upload the node_modules folder to your host together with the other files (step 14).

Once the packages are installed, start (or restart) the host's server and the bot will go online.
